Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith - La La La narrative

The narrative behind:

Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith – La La La

The video starts off with a little deaf boy being abused by a father, which leads to him running away to the street where there is was a God like figure. This figure gave the boy a Dog, representing the lion from the Wizard of Oz.

The boy and the lion then find the tin man, who is need of a heart. Therefore the boy find the tin man a heart. However because the video is quite modern, they buy the heart from a man on the street. Suggesting that in this modern time, we can buy anything from anywhere at anytime.

They continue the journey and pickup the scarecrow. The scarecrow needs to be set free in the story of The Wizard of Oz, and in the music video the same happens. They get it away from its street job and he tags along on the journey.

As the video continues, there is a TV with an advert for Naughty Boy’s album – Hotel Cabana. This is almost a subliminal message to the viewers that’s noticeable after a few watches.

At the end of the video, the little boy gets walked in to the cave and is sacrificed to the devil. This is told in the video, however the second storyline – El Tîno – is suggested. This story is where the devil has the power to kill the town if he is not fed. However in the video, the boy sacrifices himself and because he is deaf he cannot hear the devils orders. Therefore the locals live.
